#5EGallery SUPPORTS Detroit's youth, women in music, and HIP HOP!

The #5EGallery is a true diamond in the rough located in Detroit's historic Cork Town. Co Owner Piper Carter has devoted her life to Detroit's only HIP HOP community center. 5E is called "The Foundation" and the gallery celebrates and supports the 5 Elements of hip hop. (MC’ing(Rapping), DJ’ingWRITING (Aerosol Art), SEVERAL DANCE FORMS (which include Breaking, Up-Rocking, Popping, and Locking) and the element which holds the rest together: KNOWLEDGE. There are also other elements such as Vocal Percussion/Beat Boxing, Fashion, etc.)

The Foundation holds space for Women in Hip Hop, Youth, Latino Heritage, People of Color, & Hip Hop Artists to learn the Principles of Hip Hop. Graffiti Artists to have legal walls to tag, DJs or (Disk Jockeys" can to learn turn table skills, & B-Boys to have a space to practice & hold events. The gallery's mission is to keep providing a safe space for Hip Hop to live in Detroit where the Community can come together! The 5e Gallery is a non-profit visual art and hip-hop culture gallery. 5e was founded by DJ Sicari as an outlet for the Detroit art and music communities to express themselves, learn, and grow.

"Our mission is to increase public awareness of the visual arts, music and community through exhibitions and educational programs."

#5EGallery opens their doors every Tuesday Night for Open Mic nights where artists in all 5 of the elements of HipHop get to come out and showcase their talents. Last week iLLEvents showed up, and had a blast! The venue in it self is captivating, and the positive vibes coupled with the amazing talent is a MUST SEE! I encourage  & CHALLENGE all music, art, dance, & fashion lovers to get up and go check this place out!
